The 2025 Down Syndrome European Gymnastics Championships, hosted in Istanbul, has come to an end. The final day of the championships, held at the Burhan Felek Sports Complex Dome Gymnastics Hall, was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, who closely followed the competitions.
Speaking at the medal ceremony, Minister Bak congratulated all the athletes and said:
“Our athletes with Down syndrome are very special and precious to us. Our President has made significant investments to increase their participation in sports in our country. The Ministry of Family and Social Services is also carrying out important work. We, as the Ministry, continue to support the activities of our special athletes. They are our everything, our source of joy. Sports add so much to their lives, boost their self-confidence, and help them gain recognition in society. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed.”
The event was also attended by President of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation Suat Çelen, President of the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation Birol Aydın, along with many distinguished guests.
Minister Bak further emphasized that such events hold great significance for Türkiye, noting that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has always shown a special interest and strong support for athletes with Down syndrome.
The championships concluded with the medal ceremony and group photo sessions.
